Introduction
Wurriki Nyal will be a new civic precinct for the people of Geelong, bringing together employees from seven central Geelong offices to drive collaboration, reduce costs, and future-proof the City of Greater Geelong’s workplace needs.
Assisting the City, an expression of interest followed by a single design stage engages multidisciplinary teams to deliver the new civic precinct, which includes 2,600 square metres of new community spaces and office spaces.
The winner of this competition is COX Architecture with a design that features a sustainable, mass-engineered timber design, creating a light-filled, healthy, contemporary workplace for its employees. It is expected that the project’s construction will be complete in 2022.
Winning Design
“The scale and massing of the development carefully balances the need to be an exciting new landmark and architectural statement for central Geelong, while integrating with, and responding sensitively to, the local and historical context.”
